BODi adds to that with new classes every single day! You’ll be able to mix them into programs or just do the live classes. BODi will also have music and indoor cycling options, and the chance to be part of the BODcast.

Right now, you get BODi BETA through Beachbody’s Nutrition+, which will officially transition to BOD Interactive this month.

If you aren’t yet a member, add a Beachbody On Demand membership to your cart to purchase Nutrition+ featuring BODi BETA.

Cycling for Weight Loss: 3 Tips

1. Vary Your Routine

When cycling for weight loss, both interval and steady-state cardio training can yield significant results, and according to Thieme, the best training programs combine the two modalities.

You can burn as many calories during an interval workout as you can during a longer steady-state session.

Don’t do intervals every day as you may risk over-training. Alternating between “speed work” and steady-state rides each week will help you avoid burnout and stay on the fast track toward your goals.

2. Be Smart About Your Calorie Deficit

Creating a calorie deficit (i.e., burning more calories than you consume each day) through diet and exercise is essential for losing weight.

But the key is to do that while still fueling your body sufficiently to perform at your peak during your workouts, says Garret Seacat, C.S.C.S., and USA Cycling certified coach.

“Especially if you’re doing longer rides, you need enough fuel, and you’ll use that during the ride,” he says. “Trying to cut way back [on calories, and especially carbs] will sabotage you because you won’t have the fuel to do as much as you want.”

3. Add Cycling to Your Daily Routine

Even if you see some significant results through your cycling workouts, you can ramp up your cycling for weight loss by finding more ways to spend time on your bike.

For example, a study on bike commuting showed that those who maintained the activity over time were more likely to prevent weight gain and facilitate weight loss.

“Getting outdoors can also inspire you to ride for longer, especially if you’re doing new routes and enjoying the scenery,” says Seacat. “Remember that having fun during an activity that’s helping you lose weight will motivate you to keep doing it and keep challenging yourself.”

Post Workout Recovery Foods

There’s not one post-workout snack that’s perfect for everyone. “You need to consider many factors, including the type of workout, the duration, and the intensity,” says sports nutrition expert Marie Spano, M.S., R.D., C.S.C.S., C.S.S.D., who consults for the Atlanta Hawks.

Jogged, practiced yoga, or rode your bike at a relaxed pace for half an hour? Chances are, you probably didn’t exercise hard enough to warrant a recovery snack. Rehydrate with plenty of water now, and plan to refuel with whole, nutrient-dense foods at your next meal or planned snack.

It’s a different story if you’re doing endurance work or resistance training. Gobble up both carbs and protein after a long endurance effort. For the carbs, the amount you need can vary (you’ll continue to replenish glycogen throughout the day), but for protein, recent research shows 20 grams is the magic number for the average person.

After resistance work, your glycogen won’t be as tapped as after long bouts of endurance exercise, so focus on 20 grams of high-quality protein.

Try these recovery foods:

  • Protein smoothie: Blend whey or soy protein powder with fruit and water or 2 percent or whole milk to make a creamy shake. Pick any powder you like, as long as it delivers at least 20 grams of protein per serving and is free of artificial flavors and sweeteners, says Spano.
  • Low-fat chocolate milk: Surprised? This liquid snack serves up the right balance of protein and carbs that findings show can promote muscle recovery and slow muscle fatigue during future workouts.
  • Beachbody Performance Recover Post-Workout Formula: This high-quality protein blend gets the job done, and is formulated specifically to help you recover. Just mix it with water, shake it up, and sip.
  • Fruit and Greek yogurt: Bananas, grapes, or berries all work. Stick with plain Greek yogurt and add sweetness with the fruit.
  • Chicken or turkey wrap: Wrap julienned (matchsticks) vegetables with lean chicken or turkey slices.
